Drug
Uses
Tiova is used to treat bronchospasm associated with chronic obstructive
pulmonary disease (COPD).
How
Taken
Before using Tiova read the patient leaflet carefully. DO NOT swollow
the capsules they are used with a special inhalator only. Usually Tiova
is taken once a day.
Missed
Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is
almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your
regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a
missed one.
Storage
Keep the product away heat, moisture and light. The temperature should
be between 59–86F (15–30 C). Make sure children cannot reach it.

Information
You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment
or you may not be able to take this drug at all if you have kidney or
liver infection or if you have gastrointestinal problems. Tiova interact
with the following products– phenytoin (Dilantin); tamoxifen (Nolvadex);
tolbutamide (Orinase); torsemide (Demadex); fluvastatin (Lescol); a
blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin
(Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin
(Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep); (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase),
dipyridamole (Persantine), streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase),
ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase). Patients taking the
above mentioned drugs should consult a doctor concerning the dosage and
possibility of Tiova usage.
Warnings/Precautions
Tiova may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. These effects may worsen
if Tiova is taken with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Tiova Tablets
with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until
you know how you react to this drug. Do not eat grapefruit or drink
grapefruit juice while you take Tiova Tablets. Proper dental care is
important while you are taking Tiova Tablets. Brush and floss your teeth
and visit the dentist regularly. If your symptoms do not improve or if
they worsen, contact your doctor. Tiova should be used only by the
patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or
take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects
Among the possible negative side effects are- severe neutropenia (low white blood cells), thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP),
hemorrhage (gastrointestinal hemorrhage and cerebral hemorrhage),
headache, indigestion, flushing. Search medical help if any of these
negative side effects do not ease off in several hours. These are not
all the side effects of Tiova. For more information, ask your doctor or
