Drug
Uses
Dalacin C is used for treatment of certain bacterial
infections.
How Taken
Use Dalacin C as directed by
your doctor. Take Dalacin C with or without a meal. To clear up your
infection completely, take Dalacin C for the full course of treatment.
Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.
Warnings/Precautions
Before taking
Dalacin C, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical
conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or
other substances, if you are allergic to any ingredient in Dalacin C,
if you have had a severe allergic reaction to a penicillin (eg,
amoxicillin) or other beta–lactam antibiotic (eg, imipenem), have
stomach or bowel problems (eg, inflammation), blood clotting problems,
kidney or liver problems, or poor nutrition, if you are pregnant,
planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. If you become
pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits
and risks of using Dalacin C while you are pregnant. Dalacin C is
found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you
use Dalacin C, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to
your baby. Some medicines may interact with Dalacin C. Therefore tell
your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal
preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Dalacin C may
decrease the ability of your blood to clot. Avoid activities that may
cause bruising or injury. Tell your doctor if you have unusual
bruising or bleeding. Tell your doctor if you have dark, tarry, or
bloody stools. Dalacin C only works against bacteria, it does not
treat viral infections (eg, the common cold). Long–term or repeated
use of Dalacin C may cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if
signs of a second infection occur. Dalacin C may cause the results of
some tests for urine glucose to be wrong. Dalacin C may interfere with
certain lab tests. Be sure your doctor and lab personnel know you are
taking Dalacin C. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to the
effects of Dalacin C. Use Dalacin C with extreme caution in children
younger than 10 years old who have diarrhea or an infection of the
stomach or bowel.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it
as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next
dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
Possible Side
Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are– Diarrhea,
dizziness, headache, indigestion, joint pain, stomach pain, tiredness.
Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If
you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should
seek medical attention immediately– allergic reactions (rash, hives,
itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the
mouth, face, lips, or tongue), agitation, confusion, dark urine,
decreased urination, fever, hallucinations, red, swollen, or blistered
skin, seizures, severe or blood diarrhea, severe stomach pain, severe
tiredness, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual vaginal pain, odor,
or discharge, yellowing of the eyes or skin.
Storage
Store Dalacin C at 77 °F (25 °C). Brief storage at 59 – 86 °F (15 – 30
°C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not
store in the bathroom. Keep Dalacin C out of the reach of
children.
Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek
medical attention immediately. Some of the symptoms of Dalacin C
overdose are– blood in the urine, muscle spasm, nausea, seizures,
severe diarrhea, vomiting.
More Information
Dalacin C may cause
dizziness. These effects may worsen if Dalacin C is taken with alcohol
or certain other medications. Use Dalacin C with caution. Do not drive
or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to
this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact
your doctor. Dalacin C should be used only by the patient for whom it
has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often
than prescribed by your doctor.
